Kenny Macintyre mocked by Graham Spiers after Rangers draw v Dundee United

Rangers’ 1-1 draw against Dundee United was not what Giovanni van Bronckhorst wanted on Sunday but that didn’t stop the mocking on social media.

BBC radio host Kenny Macintyre was very pro-Light Blues in his post-match analysis of the game at Tannadice in which Joe Arino rescued a point following Ross Graham’s first-half opener.

Fellow journalist Graham Spiers couldn’t help himself on Twitter after hearing Macintyre’s verdict, mocking his colleague hilariously.

“Ambulances have been called for Kenny Macintyre at Tannadice. Emotional and psychiatric back-up also being utilised. The big Mull man is sitting up and looks fine, if trembling slightly. Will update concerned friends/family later,” Spiers tweeted.

Macintyre saw the funny side himself, replying: “Cheers, Graham. I appreciate your input!”

Far from vintage

Sunday was not what Rangers fans had in mind as they packed into the corner of Tannadice to loudly cheer their side on all afternoon long.

74% possession is all well and good as is having 29 shots but the real issue was that only three of those were on target, troubling the Dundee United goalkeeper.

The low block set up by the home side didn’t help the situation as the Light Blues toiled to break them down all day, only to do so once thanks to Aribo.

Macintyre may have been pleased with how they kept the ball but the defenders were rarely pressed by strikers Tony Watt and Marc McNulty giving them free rein to do what they liked on the halfway line.

The Gers have to become better at opening the door against lower opposition because it might be these dropped points that cost them in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

In other Rangers news, a BBC Sportsound pundit blasted this Gers ace for a “half-hearted” performance off the bench for van Bronckhorst’s side.
