James McFadden amazed Amad Diallo hit the post late on in Rangers draw at Dundee United
James McFadden could not believe that Amad Diallo hit the post during the second half as Rangers went hunting for the winner at Dundee United.
The Manchester United loanee broke clear in the closing stages at Tannadyce and managed to clip the ball past Benjamin Siegrist and against the near post.
Despite 29 shots on goal Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men were unable to find a winner in the face of resolute Tangerines defending, having to settle for a 1-1 draw through Joe Aribo’s equaliser after Ross Graham had bested Filip Helander to put the hosts ahead.

Speaking on the Sky Sports match broadcast after the game McFadden said: “Diallo with an unbelievable chance there.
“The last thing you expect to happen is he hits the post.”
Frustrating afternoon
After the high of running riot against Borussia Dortmund in midweek it was a timely reminder of the challenge the Light Blues have on their hands domestically.
Despite being well on top for the majority of the match they could not find a way to score a winner that they badly needed.
Perhaps feeling a lull after the adrenaline of the Europa League exploits, some of the key members of the starting line-up, which only saw one change from Thursday, were uncharacteristically off colour.

Alfredo Morelos endured a frustrating outing as he was well-marshalled by the home side’s defenders, first through niggling fouls, and then through throwing blocks in and crowding him out.
Ryan Jack was similarly below his best, struggling to exert much influence in the midfield, while the one change that saw Helander come in for Borna Barisic turned out to be a mistake as he looked short of match fitness and was too easily beaten for the opening goal.
Diallo took a few minutes to get up to the speed of the match after coming on, as he struggled to get involved, but suddenly burst into life with the chance that struck the woodwork and was a threat thereafter.
In other Rangers news, these were the team’s player ratings from the full-throttle affair at Tannadyce.
