Ally McCoist praises Rangers duo Ryan Kent and Ryan Jack
Ally McCoist has claimed that keeping Ryan Jack fit and Ryan Kent firing are ‘key’ to Rangers having success this season, while speaking on BT Sport.
The Light Blues romped to a 4-2 win over Dortmund on Thursday night in the Europa League, with both Jack and Kent shining with their own individual performances.
And McCoist, who was speaking on BT Sport on Friday night [Feb 18th], believes it is key for Rangers to keep Jack fit this season while also helping Kent find consistency in his game to help fire them to success.
“It looks like one of the key figures this season is to keep Ryan Jack fit,” he said. “I thought again that he was absolutely outstanding. He was terrific.
“I’ve said all along, the key for me, Rangers key player is Ryan Kent. There might be better players in and around him, but he’s the key to unlocking defences and he’s the only in the Rangers squad that has got something different. He has got the drop of a shoulder and the pace to go past players.
“His run for the third goal was nothing short of magnificent. If he can get some form and some level of consistency then you’d have to say that it wouldn’t be long before the big boys started calling.”
Momentum
Rangers are absolutely peaking at the right time with that performance over Dortmund and it’s no surprise that Jack and Kent were central to it.
Jack’s form has been solid throughout the season, but his injury problems have been persistent and meant he hasn’t been able to play nearly as much as he should have been.

In possession he is comfortable and excellent, but also his defensive awareness and positioning makes him a key component to the team tactically in both areas of the pitch.
As for Kent, his pace and trickery make him one of the best players in the country but he hasn’t produced as often as would be expected this season.
If he can replicate his form and performance against Dortmund for the rest of the season, then it will be incredibly difficult for Rangers not to be successful come May.
