‘Tremendous’ – Tam McManus applauds Rangers emphatic Europa League win

Tam McManus has dubbed Rangers ‘superb’ during their round of 32 victory against Borussia Dortmund last night (February 17).

The Gers cruised past the German heavyweights 4-2 at the Signal Iduna Park in the first leg.

All eyes now turn to the return fixture at Ibrox where Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team still have to finish the job.

Writing on his personal Twitter McManus said: “Rangers have been superb in Dortmund. Compact defensively, comfortable on the ball and look a threat going forward.

“Be a tremendous result if can get the win from here.”

Half way there

That was some win by the Bears. Against all odds they didn’t only win but rather cruised to victory against a very good Dortmund side.

It must not be forgotten that the Germans were actually playing their football in the Champions League earlier this season and would have been one of the favourites to win the Europa League having dropped down after the group stages.

Everybody knew the Gers had a mountain to climb this evening, but nobody genuinely thought they could do it.

That isn’t in any way to discredit the Bears but to give Borussia Dortmund the credit they have earned in Europe for the best part of a decade.

It was a great result, one of the best in the team’s European history but it is still only half time with the second leg still all to play for.

There is a huge job to do at Ibrox and the players will know that. Let’s hope they can finish the job in Glasgow and progress to the round of 16.

Hopefully they are still without star man Erling Haaland for that game who undoubtedly make things so much harder.

In other Bears news, Stewart Robertson says Rangers aren’t conceding Connor Goldson contract.
