Steven Gerrard and Michael Beale message Rangers ace James Tavernier after win v Borussia Dortmund
Steven Gerrard and Michael Beale have sent Instagram messages to James Tavernier after Rangers’ remarkable win at Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side in a strong position to make the last-16 of the Europa League after shocking the Bundesliga giants with a 4-2 win at Signal Iduna Park.
Gers captain Tavernier got the ball rolling by scoring the first goal of the game from the penalty spot in the first half and after the game, he took to Instagram to rave about an “unbelievable team performance” in Germany.
Ex-Gers boss Gerrard, who’s now at Aston Villa but clearly still keeps an eye on his old club, sent a message in response that had fire emojis in it.
Beale, who was a coach at Ibrox and is now also with Villa, replied to say: “Go on the boys.”

Unforgettable
Whether we reach the next round of the Europa League or not – that was truly one of the great performances in Germany by any British side in European football.
Not many English clubs can say they have turned up to Dortmund and been able to win so comfortably but Rangers can.
In all honesty, we could and should have won by more and maybe held onto the three-goal advantage we had going into the second leg at Ibrox next week.
However, that’s us being picky because it sets up what is bound to be an incredible occasion in Govan where the stadium will be absolutely electric.
Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, John Lundstram and Ryan Jack were all superb with Jack putting in one of the best midfield performances we’ve seen from a Rangers player in recent memory.
This is Borussia Dortmund, remember. It’s not Livingston or St Mirren.
It still hasn’t sunk in properly yet – will it ever?
In other Rangers news, here’s how the German newspapers reacted to Dortmund’s defeat to the Light Blues.
