Jude Bellingham itching to play at ‘one of the best’ Ibrox after Rangers win

Jude Bellingham has lauded Ibrox as “one of the best stadiums in Europe” ahead of next week’s Europa League second leg against Rangers.

The Light Blues stunned Borussia Dortmund 4-2 at the Signal Iduna Park last night (Thursday 17 February) to put themselves in a great position to advance before the return game in Glasgow.

England star Bellingham scored a fantastic goal in the game to help give his side a chance and is relishing the prospect of a huge European night at Gers’ home.

Speaking to BT Sport following the game the teenager said: “There’s a bit of hope because we have the second leg and there’s not one person in that changing room that’s going to give up. I won’t let them.

“We’re going to go there and we’re going to give everything. We know how hard it’s going to be.

“For me personally I can’t wait to play at Ibrox, one of the best stadiums in Europe in my opinion, when it’s packed on a European night.

“So bring it on.”

Back in the big time

During the long, hard days in the lower leagues it was nights like last night that Rangers fans were dreaming of.

And the prospect of an electric atmosphere in Glasgow next week is practically mouthwatering.

Whatever happens in terms of the result, and from this position it will be crushing to be eliminated, the tension of having something to protect on a massive European night against a continental giant is testament to the work that everyone who helped build the club back up over the last decade put in.

Steven Gerrard, and obviously Giovanni van Bronckhorst, will take the most plaudits for the recent success, along with the current playing squad.

But there are more than there is space to name stretching back to the Ally McCoist reign that deserve credit for where the club finds itself again now.

The form the Light Blues have shown since the blow of the Old Firm defeat at the beginning of the month has been superb and should have put to rest any doubts about the Dutch boss’ ability to lift his side after adversity.

He must push his players on to complete the job against Dortmund next week, and still faces a big challenge of overhauling Celtic at the top of the SPFL.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton reacted instantly to the Europa League result last night.
