Borussia Dortmund chiefs in late-evening ‘crisis meeting’ caused by Rangers thrashing
Borussia Dortmund bosses held crisis talks late last night after the 4-2 defeat by Rangers, according to Sky Germany who called it a “disaster”.
A blistering attacking display from Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men caught the Bundesliga’s second-placed side by surprise to leave the favourites with a mountain to climb in the return leg at Ibrox next week.
A penalty from James Tavernier, goals from Alfredo Morelos and John Lundstram, and a second-half own goal were enough to put the Light Blues in the driving seat and cause major concern at the Westfalenstadion, although the club have denied the meeting took place.

The Sky Germany report says: “Borussia Dortmund made a fool of themselves in the Europa League against Glasgow Rangers. After the game there was still a need for talks between the BVB managers and the coach.
According to Sky information, there was a crisis meeting at BVB ate in the evening. Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc, Sebastian Kehl and coach Marco Rose came together and analyzed the situation after the second hearty home defeat in a row with a total of nine goals conceded.”
Disarray
There was a sneaking suspicion heading into the match in Dortmund that if Gers played to their potential in attack something like this could happen.
The Germans were thrashed 5-2 at home by Bayer Leverkusen two league games ago, and it was a similar story last night as the home side’s defence simply could not cope with the Scottish champions.
Fans are understandably jubilant at the performance, and likely will take further confidence from the idea that their opponents could be in disarray ahead of the return leg.

A stunning strike late on from Raphael Guerreiro has given Dortmund a chance at Ibrox, especially with the possibility that Erling Haaland could be in line for a return.
But the Bundesliga side certainly have problems at the moment, having also been dumped out of the DFB Pokal a month ago by lower-league opposition in FC St. Pauli.
In other Rangers news, Alan Brazil wasn’t enjoying himself this morning after the result in Germany.
