Kris Boyd overjoyed by ‘unbelievable’ Rangers after Borussia Dortmund win

Kris Boyd couldn’t hide his delight as Rangers thumped Borussia Dortmund 4-2 in the first leg of their Europa League knockout stage tie.

The Bears came away from the Signal Iduna Stadium as favourites with anything less than a two-goal defeat back at Ibrox enough to see them advance to the next round.

Boyd dubbed the result ‘unbelievable’ given the Bears lack of European success in recent years while covering the game on Sky Sports.

“It’s fantastic when you look at where Rangers have been over the past few years to be back even competing at this level of European football to go to a club like Borussia Dortmund,” Boyd said during the game on Sky, as per Football Daily.

“4-1 away from home, you would never ever have thought that this could be the case.

“This has been unbelievable especially when you see Borussia Dortmund and the powerhouses they are in European football.”

Halfway

Wow. What a game that was. There is always hope as Gers fans, but nobody actually expected them to go and win tonight.

Rangers

The away game in Germany was all about staying in the tie and limiting the damage Borussia Dortmund could inflict with one eye on the return leg at Ibrox.

However, Rangers completely ran away with it and thoroughly deserved that result as the score more than suggests.

Every single player did themselves proud on the pitch tonight, it was a real team performance. One of – if not – the best in the Bears recent European history.

It’s hard not to get carried away as expected but everyone must remain calm. It is only half time and the German giants have more than enough firepower to blow Rangers away in the second leg.

The Gers will have the advantage of Ibrox being right behind them and the two goal lead but it is far from over.
