‘Huge result’ – Chris Sutton shares instant reaction to Rangers 4-2 win v Dortmund

Chris Sutton praised Rangers for a ‘huge result’ in Europe as they smashed Borussia Dortmund 4-2 in Germany in their Europa League clash.

The Bears were excellent for 90 minutes and had a 2-0 lead heading into half-time thanks to goals from James Tavernier and Alfredo Morelos. John Lundstram and an own-goal from Dan-Axel Zagadou complete the scoring.

But, Sutton reacted immediately to the stunning result for the Light Blues on Twitter, singling out Ryan Kent for huge praise too for an ‘excellent’ performance.

“Well played Rangers, a huge result. Some big performances but Ryan Jack really excellent,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Jack got the assist for Lundstram’s goal and was dangerous throughout the game as the Gers took a thoroughly deserved win back to Ibrox ahead of the second leg next week.

Half-time

Despite the brilliant performance and result of Rangers in Dortmund tonight, it must be remembered that it’s only half-time in the tie.

There is no away goals rule so a 2-0 Dortmund win would be enough to take the game to extra-time next week, but Rangers now know they can cause damage to the German side.

Rangers

Sutton singled out Jack for special praise for his brilliant performance, but Morelos, Joe Aribo and Ryan Jack were all superb also as was the manager for his decisions.

Van Bronckhorst got the team selection and tactics spot on and Dortmund struggled to cope with their speed and passing ability, while they pressed high to force turnovers from the home side too.

Anyone watching would have been impressed, but for Sutton to come out publicly and praise them you know what Rangers did during the game was special.
