Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack fit for Borussia Dortmund clash
Rangers are set to square off against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Europa League playoffs to seal qualification into the round of 16.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst spoke to the press ahead of his biggest game in charge of the SPFL champions.
By way of injuries, he has confirmed that Ryan Jack is fit enough to travel with the squad to Germany.
He said, “Filip (Helander) was not in our European squad. It was a difficult decision but he has only played 60 mins after so many months.
“Leon (Balogun) is not available for tomorrow, hopefully back next week. Ryan (Jack) is fit to travel with us to Germany.”
Clear underdogs
Few neutrals expect this to be anything other than a win for Dortmund.
They’re a perennial Champions League side that have taken the game to some of the biggest teams on the continent.
In Erling Haaland, they’ve got one of the best strikers in the world and he’s set to become a world class name in a few years.
On the other hand, Gers operate on a modest budget and failed to win their group, which is what led to them being in this situation.
However, what they’ve got is heart and determination and have a few players in their squad who can prove to be game changers.
While Jack, a player who has been labelled “outstanding” by the BBC, will not be expected to start, having him on the bench could prove to be a huge boost for the side.
If needed, GvB can always throw him off the bench with the hopes of him wreaking havoc in the middle and final thirds.
