Rangers reject proves GvB right as he signs for new club
The signing of Amad Diallo on loan from Manchester United left the writing on the wall at Rangers for English winger Brandon Barker.
The 25-year-old, who joined the Gers from Manchester City in 2019, was already a rare feature in the Light Blues squad and things didn’t change after Steven Gerrard left for Aston Villa as Giovanni van Bronckhorst took over.
He was released from Ibrox at the end of January and has spent the past two weeks without a club, but he has now signed a deal elsewhere.

Barker has, today (15 February), put pen to paper on a deal to play the remainder of the 2021-22 season at Championship strugglers Reading.
He has been on trial at the Royals since he left Scotland at the conclusion of his Rangers contract and they have been impressed enough to offer him a second chance.
Despite the news, van Bronckhorst won’t be too worried that he has made a mistake in letting him go.
Reading are, as mentioned, fighting for their lives in the English second tier and you could argue that even the best of the Championship aren’t to the level of the Light Blues.

His unremarkable three goals in 27 games for Rangers says everything you need to know about his ability and fans may quickly forget he was ever at Ibrox if the current crop of talented wingers light up the Scottish Premiership.
Diallo is joined by Ryan Kent, Fashion Sakala and Scott Wright in the wide areas which left Barker no room for chances.
There is always a chance that he will become one of the Championship’s best players out of nowhere at the Select Car Leasing Stadium but it was never going to happen at Ibrox so it was best for everyone to cut his deal short.
In other Rangers news, the club could be prepared to sell one of their star men for a 50% discount to the Premier League.
