Rangers official account likes tweet by Ramsey agent tearing journalist to shreds

Rangers’ official Twitter account has liked a tweet by David Baldwin after Aaron Ramsey’s agent blasted a journalist for her views on the Welshman’s loan move to Ibrox.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Alison McConnell dubbed Rangers’ deadline day loan swoop for the Juventus midfielder a “desperate last throw of the dice” and slammed the Gers’ alleged lack of strategy over the deal.

Ramsey’s agent Baldwin responded on Twitter on Tuesday morning [15 February], slamming McConnell, who writes for the Celtic Way and the Herald, saying her article was “stupid”, “disrespectful” and “rag journalism”.

Interestingly, as seen in the screenshot below, Rangers’ official Twitter account liked Baldwin’s explosive tweet about McConnell.

Awful take

It’s fair to say that McConnell’s reaction to Rangers signing Ramsey is just ridiculous.

She’s a writer for the Celtic Way, so there’s absolutely nothing about this that surprises us but it would be great if journalists could show some impartiality and take a look back to examine things as fairly as possible.

Rangers have signed a top-class player and everyone outside the Old Firm and outside of the biased sections of Scottish football can see that.

Look at how people were reacting to the deal south of the border, they could tell that we were signing a top player.

It was the biggest deal on transfer deadline day in the whole of the United Kingdom as it was Scotland’s top club signing a Wales international who’d been brilliant in England earlier in his career.

Ramsey finally started a game for us on Saturday in the win at Annan and we expect him to play a role against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday and then in our upcoming Premiership matches.

It needed a few weeks for him to get up to speed, both physically and mentally, before playing and that was the correct approach.

Since he’s been in the squad, the form has improved massively and we’re really looking forward to seeing what he can do as a key player for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart barged in on a BBC Sportscene colleague after a reaction to what happened in the win at Annan.
