Barry Ferguson desperate for Rangers return after Alloa Athletic resignation
Former captain Barry Ferguson is so set on returning to Rangers as a coach that he would work “at any level” to make it happen.
The 44-year-old recently resigned as manager of Alloa Athletic and is now desperate to become part of the Light Blues’ set-up again, following a decade at the club as a senior player across two spells.
After a brief caretaker stay as Blackpool boss, the Alloa job was Ferguson’s third full-time role, but he now wants to return to the club where he made his name.

Speaking to Go Radio, via Glasgow Times, the former Scotland midfielder said: “I don’t care what level it is, whether it’s 11-year-olds or a seasoned pro, at some stage I would love to get back to Rangers.
“There’s no doubt about it but it’s not happened for a number of reasons.
“It’s still my club and I’ll support them. I watch them, I hope they win every single game they play in.”
Coming home
It is perhaps no surprise to hear that the former Blackburn Rovers player would love to return to Ibrox.
It is slightly more unusual to hear a coach say so in such strong and open terms.
Having started as a youth player at Ibrox before going on to make more than 400 first-team appearances for the club it is understandable that he is going to feel an ongoing link to the Glasgow side.

Considering the success he enjoyed at Gers he will no doubt always associate it with the best parts of his career, having won five Scottish titles, cups and league cups each, as well as a number of individual awards.
And, while Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s coaching staff at the top of the club seems pretty set for now, there is no reason to assume Ferguson would not be able to come in lower down since he is so willing.
Despite the disappointing results in his previous job Alloa chairman is sure to give him a good reference, having said to the Bees website that he had “nothing but praise” for the departed boss who “leaves with our best wishes and thanks”.
In other Rangers news, the club are reportedly open to selling this star man in the summer.
