Aaron Ramsey celebrated for post-game Rangers fan interaction, sends follow-up message

Aaron Ramsey has drawn praise for his performance in his first Rangers start, as well as his interactions with a fan following the final whistle.

The Welshman provided the assist for Filip Helander’s opening goal in the 3-0 Scottish Cup victory, and almost scored his first goal in a Light Blue shirt but saw his flick into the net ruled out for offside.

The on-loan Juventus star then gave his Gers shirt from the match to a young fan who ran across the pitch at full time, which lead to the boys father posting a video online afterwards calling the midfielder a “legend”.

In response, the former Arsenal man wrote back on his personal Twitter account: “After that sprint across the little man more than deserved it”.

Fitting in already

There was plenty of jubilation at the deadline day news that Ramsey was signing in Glasgow, following an injury-hit time in Serie A.

But the mood around the club soon changed as he watched his first game from the stands, with the Ibrox side being blown away 3-0 in the Old Firm derby.

Subsequent matches have seen back-to-back strong victories over either side of Edinburgh, as Hearts were dispatched 5-0 before a 2-0 win over Hibernian.

Rangers

In those two games, late substitute appearances from the headline signing were overshadowed by glowing performances from teammates.

But after finally getting an hour under his belt from kick off against lower-league opposition the 31-year-old has been able to ingratiate himself into the club better.

There has been no sign of the player feeling that he is too big for Ibrox or for the league, and everything he has said has given the impression of someone fully committed to the cause.

Interactions like this one with fans will go along way to securing his place in their hearts, and with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Gers will have a chance to make it permanent in the summer (Football Scotland), it could be a longer relationship than originally expected.

In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart was filled with praise for this Gers player’s intelligence after the win.
