Rangers assistant Dave Vos a ‘perfectionist’ says coach who worked for him
Rangers appointed Dave Vos as their new assistant manager in November, soon after Giovanni van Bronckhorst took over from Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.
He arrived from Ajax where he had been working as a youth coach and then the Under-18s manager before moving on to Jong Ajax (the club’s second team).
Alongside him in Amsterdam was former Everton winger Steven Pienaar who learned a lot from Vos in the six months they were together.

The South African told The Athletic about Vos’ personality and one incident that epitomised the man.
“We had planned the training one day so we went out to put the session on the field,” Pienaar said. “Dave put the goals out but we had 20 minutes waiting for the players so I moved the goals just to see if he noticed and what his reaction would be.
“He stared at the goals and was shocked like, ‘Huh, what is happening here?’. I burst out laughing. He said, ‘Ah, you’re testing me?’. I told him that sometimes you need to not have everything exactly the way you want it. That was the player in me coming out, but (for Vos) everything had to be perfect. That’s the word to describe him. He’s a perfectionist.”
Dream number two
It can be frustrating working with someone who likes everything to be perfect but every football club needs someone like that.

When everyone else thinks they are happy with whatever it is they’ve just done, the perfectionist comes in and points out maybe one or two things to work on, keeping everyone on their toes.
van Bronckhorst will surely appreciate Vos’ mentality in this regard and it could even prove crucial in the title race this season.
It might be one tiny flaw in a defensive set-piece but fixing that could stop a goal from being conceded and when the race with Celtic is as close as it is, that could make all the difference.
Vos hasn’t been talked about much since he arrived but his contributions cannot be ignored as van Bronckhorst may have crumbled without him.
In other Rangers news, there is worrying injury news regarding this Rangers ace according to his international manager.
