Former Rangers ace Richard Foster shares Aaron Ramsey concern

Richard Foster has expressed his concerns on Rangers new boy Aaron Ramsey ahead of his expected full debut at Annan.

The BBC pundit was unsure whether the Welshman will be able to keep up with the football in Scotland having played at a much slower pace whilst in Italy.

Foster tipped the former Arsenal midfielder to be a ‘real asset’ if the stars align in Glasgow between now and the end of the season.

“He should be a real asset for Rangers if he can stay fit.” he said as per Daily Record.

“My worry is that he is thinking that he can come to Scotland after not playing a lot of games and get up his fitness.

’Scottish football is a fast pace. You need to be fit. He is coming from Juventus, which is even slower than the English game when compared to Scotland.

“Granted, Rangers dominate the ball in most games, but I imagine he will be caught out by the speed of the game initially.

“Once he finds his feet, he is obviously a top-quality player.”

Quality

Ramsey’s fitness should be the only concern for Rangers fans. He has suffered with injuries his whole career and that is unlikely to change now.

With him initially only set to be at the club until the end of the season, the Bears might just get lucky and benefit from a solid run from the Juventus man.

He hasn’t played in a while so he isn’t likely to be in need of a rest but that could present problems of its own so Giovanni van Bronckhorst needs to be very cautious with how much game time he gives Ramsey to start off with.

Otherwise, he should find his feet in Scotland very quickly. The 31-year-old has bags of experience playing in multiple competitions in several different countries for some of the best teams in the world.

I’m sure he will take to life in Scotland and show his undeniable quality as he has done everywhere else.
