Rangers target Ayden Gallacher moves to Hibs

Rangers wanted to sign Gartcairn youngster Ayden Gallacher ahead of league rivals Hibernian, according to Paul Gallacher.

In an interview with Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser (09/02/22), the coach confirmed that Gers were keen on securing the youngster’s services.

However, he ended up moving to Hibs where he will join their Under-11s team – a decision that has been lauded by Paul.

He said, “Ayden was scouted by Hibs and had Motherwell, Hearts and Rangers showing an interest.”

Move on

Clubs begin their recruitment process from a very young age and it would have been nice for Gers to sign Gallacher.

However, the fact that they missed out on him and he ended up joining Hibs, should not dampen the mood.

Gers are a bigger and financially superior club compared to them and they could lure the player away at any time should he progress in the right way.

While it may be important for the club to make shrewd buys before players even think of playing professionally, it’s not something worth losing sleep over.

They need to prioritise winning the title and getting back on track after the shock Old Firm derby defeat against Celtic.

Few saw a 3-0 humiliation on the cards and this certainly would have shocked Giovanni van Bronckhorst and the Gers faithful.

There’s no more room for complacency and not winning the title is not an option that should not even be considered.

In other Rangers news, the club could have signed a ‘Combative’ centre mid whose father was an Ibrox icon.
