Richard Foster sings praises of Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos v Hearts

Alfredo Morelos turned in a ‘complete performance’ for Rangers against Hearts and Richard Foster thinks it was his best game in a blue shirt.

The Colombian striker returned from international duty and came straight back into the starting lineup for Giovanni van Bronckhorst, scoring twice in a 5-0 win at Ibrox.

Morelos was excellent throughout the game and involved in all five goals. Foster, who was working on BBC Sportscene as a pundit, believes it was his best performance as a Rangers player and thinks he is back to his best.

“Ryan Kent was excellent and Alfredo Morelos, that’s probably the best game I’ve seen him have in a Rangers shirt. I thought he was magnificent and you can see why they’ve missed him.

“They don’t have anyone else like him with his pace and his power but today, it was just his willingness to run beyond. For large spells last season, we didn’t really see that.

“But today, it was a complete performance.”

While Morelos was away, it was clear that Rangers lacked that X-factor in attack to really put games to bed.

Defensively they were poor too, so it wasn’t all down to his absence, but what he brings to the team was on full display against Hearts.

He runs hard, he links the play well, he wins his physical battles and he’s capable of scoring a variety of goals too, which makes it even easier for his teammates to support him.

His relationship with Ryan Kent will be key for the remainder of the season as they look to hunt down Celtic and claim a second successive Scottish title.

The 25-year-old is one of the best strikers in the country and has been for a while, but now it’s time for him to cement himself as a Rangers legend by firing them to the championship once again.
