Rangers returning star Alfredo Morelos wows Sky Sports pundit in first half v Hearts

Rangers have been without Alfredo Morelos for a couple of games as the Colombian went off to represent his country in World cup qualifiers.

The 25-year-old returned to Ibrox against Hearts and was thrown straight into the starting lineup by Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

He didn’t disappoint either, sliding in at the back post to divert home Ryan Kent’s cross after just 11 minutes.

Sky Sports pundit James McFadden was in awe of the Colombian and how he slotted straight back into the Light Blues’ forward line.

“He’s had a good start and people were mentioning how he was missed in the game against Celtic and you can see clearly what he brings to this Rangers team,” McFadden said on commentary for Sky Sports.

“What a goal to round off a really good start for Alfredo Morelos.”

Too crucial

Morelos is not a bad player to bring back in when you’re in desperate need of a win.

Rangers

Celtic’s hammering of Motherwell earlier today has sent an incentive to the Gers to match or even better the Hoops’ result and they went about it the right way from the very first whistle.

But Morelos’ impact was almost too noticeable and it is worrying that he can make such an enormous difference on his own.

It says more about the lack of quality options in the number nine position than it does the 25-year-old’s ability in his own right.

Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten have failed to make any impact on van Bronckhorst and now Morelos is back with a bang, their chances will be next to none.

Rangers could do with another striker capable of taking the pressure because Morelos cannot do it all by himself.

In other Rangers news, Billy Thomson wants this wise head to earn another new deal at Ibrox despite his age.
