Kenny Dalglish hails Ryan Jack, doesn’t think Rangers needed Aaron Ramsey
Kenny Dalglish did not think that Rangers needed to sign Aaron Ramsey on transfer deadline day, as their midfield was already stocked.
The Celtic and Liverpool legend believes that the Hoops do not necessarily “have the edge” in the title race yet following their crushing victory in the Old Firm derby, and has hailed Ryan Jack as crucial to the Gers side against Hearts on Sunday.
Welsh Juventus star Ramsey arrived at Ibrox on loan as the transfer window closed, but the former Premier League winning manager with Blackburn doesn’t feel like it was a priority for the Light Blues.

Writing in his Sunday Post column Dalglish said: “The return of Ryan Jack against Celtic was a positive, and he will improve the team. He is a leader, and must start today.
“Aaron Ramsey has been signed on loan from Juventus. but he is not match fit. So he needs to quickly get up to speed.
“He is a top midfielder, but I thought the Gers were fairly well off for players in that area of the park with Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara, Steve Davis and Jack already there.
“But the club must have felt Aaron was too good to resist, and the Ibrox supporters will be hoping to see him making his debut today – and helping the team a much-needed three points.”
Better spent elsewhere?
There are conflicting reports regarding the potential loan fee paid to the Serie A giants to bring Ramsey to Glasgow, with The Sun claiming it was was £2million, while The Telegraph say there wasn’t one at all.
If that sort of money had been spent to secure him, the obvious implication from Dalglish is that it would have been far better spent elsewhere.
Gers reportedly failed with a last-minute bid to finally end the John Souttar speculation and sign him before the summer, with The Guardian reporting that their last bid was worth £400,000.

And while the celebratory atmosphere as the window shut could have been a springboard for a positive run, that prospect was well and truly trampled on when Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side were hammered 3-0 at Parkhead in front of the watching Welshman.
The Light Blues conceded three times for the second game running as they surrendered top spot in the SPFL.
And if Hearts defender Souttar contributes to yet more dropped points at Ibrox later today then the decision to focus on the headline-grabbing midfielder over him will be brought into sharp focus.
In other Rangers news, this first team stalwart is being tipped for a new deal.
