Ex-Rangers player Boyd clears up backlash after Old Firm comments
Former Rangers player Kris Boyd has had to clarify the supposed controversial comments he made after the Old Firm.
Boyd was disappointed that the Bears failed to properly test Celtic’s Callum McGregor and his face mask.
His choice of language has sparked some controversy with some thinking the Sky pundit was inciting violence towards the Celtic midfielder.

To clear up the confusion he wrote in the Scottish Sun: “My Old Firm column in today’s Scottish Sun appears to have irked some Celtic supporters.
“Therefore, I think it’s right that I add some context and clarification to a reference I made about Callum McGregor.
“I wrote: ‘The fact he managed to get through the 90 minutes without anyone testing out that face mask is another story, but his commitment to the team was tremendous.’
“Some have taken that line to mean I wanted one of the Rangers players to intentionally try and hurt the midfielder.
“However, that is absolutely and unequivocally not the case.
“It was simply meant as a criticism of the Rangers players for their failure to get close to McGregor.”

No offence
Boyd could have definitely chosen a better way to exercise his point. Why home in on the face mask aspect rather than the football?
Of course, he didn’t mean that the Rangers players should have deliberately hurt McGregor and maybe just tried to poke fun at the situation, but people can find offence in anything you say nowadays as proven here.
The backlash is undoubtedly from a load of Celtic fans who want to rub salt in the wounds of the Gers fan following the Old Firm defeat.
What he was saying was completely accurate but next time he might just have to refine his choice in language.
The Bears midfield failed to get anywhere near McGregor who ran the show at Celtic Park.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst set up quite an attack minded midfield which suggested Rangers would have a go at their Glaswegian rivals but that rarely occurred with any success.
It was a hugely disappointing result but the return fixture at Ibrox is on the horizon with everything to play for.
In other Bears news, Kris Boyd claims Rangers title defence is reliant on Morelos.
