Rangers early team news v Hearts: Van Bronckhorst shares Aaron Ramsey update

Ianis Hagi and Filip Helander are the only two players unavailable for Rangers on Sunday when they welcome Hearts to Ibrox, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed.

Speaking to the media on Friday [4 February], van Bronckhorst said that Alfredo Morelos is in contention to start against the Edinburgh club after missing the last few games due to international duty with Colombia.

While there’s good news about Morelos, van Bronckhorst is still unsure about Aaron Ramsey’s availability and he faces a late fitness test.

Must-win

Rangers have been in dreadful form since the winter break ended and van Bronckhorst’s initial results in charge at Ibrox seem to have been the effect of a new manager’s bounce.

Since returning to action, we haven’t played well once, drawing with Aberdeen and Ross County, scraping a win over Livingston and playing embarrassingly bad in the loss at Celtic earlier this week.

It was only a small minority but we have seen and heard some shouts for van Bronckhorst to be sacked on social media – something we really didn’t see coming but the defeat at Parkhead was that bad.

It’s hardly an easy game to bounce back in this weekend when the Gers welcome Hearts to Ibrox.

While the Edinburgh club’s form has been a bit all over the place lately, they are easily the third-best team in the Scottish Premiership and need to be treated as such this weekend.

If we play how we did on Wednesday again, Hearts will win.

Van Bronckhorst needs to sort out the personnel and ignite some fire back in the bellies of the players.

Right now, it looks as though his magic touch is fading quickly.

In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson was shocked by what he saw in the stands in the Old Firm on Wednesday.
