Tom English singles out Borna Barisic from torrid Rangers defeat v Celtic in BBC column

Tom English has singled out Rangers defender Borna Barisic for his torrid performance in the 3-0 defeat against Celtic.

The Croatian international was hauled off at half-time after his embarrassing display in the opening 45 minutes.

BBC journalist, English, picked out Barisic who was torn apart by Josip Juranovic, Matt O’Riley and Liel Abada.

Writing in his latest BBC column on Thursday (03 February), English singled out the Croatian international for his torrid performance.

“This was a rout with many moving parts,” he wrote.

“Josip Juranovic, Matt O’Riley and Abada did such a tag-teaming number on poor Borna Barisic that the Croatian was taken off at half-time.

“When Postecoglou said it would be unfair to single out any one player in this pummelling of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, he was correct, but he did it anyway.”

Shocking.

We can’t get our heads around this.

All of our work in the past 18 months was undone in one night, and it was all because the majority of the squad embarrassed themselves.

Barisic was at the height of that, with the Croatian likely getting himself dropped in the future, especially after that third goal.

Calvin Bassey will most likely move to left-back again, with Leon Balogun filling in at the heart of defence against Hearts.

English is usually not our best friend, but he is spot on with this one, as Barisic simply couldn’t handle the pressure at Celtic Park.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has some issues to solve, and he has to do it very quickly after the lead in the Scottish Premiership was surrended.
