John McGinn loses mind over ‘outrageous’ Reo Hatate in Rangers loss to Celtic

John McGinn was blown away by Reo Hatate’s performance for Celtic as they beat Rangers in the Old Firm derby on Wednesday night.

Hatate, 24, scored twice from outside the penalty area and supplied an assist for Liel Abada in the first half of Celtic’s win over Rangers at Parkhead.

Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder McGinn was impressed by what he saw from the Japanese player.

He took to his personal Twitter account to simply say: “Hatate. Outrageous.”

We’ll admit it, he did well

Rangers fans probably won’t like to hear this and trust us, it’s not easy to write it. But Hatate was by far the best player on the pitch on Wednesday night and he made Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men look like boys.

Rangers definitely made Hatate’s night easier with a completely disjointed performance that saw marking and positioning thrown completely out of the window.

But his performance was the best by a Celtic player in an Old Firm derby for a long time.

One saving grace for the Gers was that they played on Wednesday night without having their full squad available.

Alfredo Morelos and Aaron Ramsey could be in the side soon and that’ll make us considerably stronger while Leon Balogun’s appearance off the bench at half-time drastically improved the defence.

Filip Helander is still yet to come back from injury while Ryan Jack’s back to fitness and should really be starting.

However, there were too many players at Parkhead who’ve lost trust from the fans.

Borna Barisic and Ryan Kent were two. They need to go in the summer.

In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart and Neil McCann slaughtered this player for his “criminal” display at Parkhead.
