Chris Sutton revels in mocking Rangers after Old Firm derby collapse at Celtic

Chris Sutton was enjoying himself after Celtic hammered Rangers in the Old Firm derby last night, and quickly took to social media to rub it in.

Gers started badly at Parkhead, going behind in the fifth minute, and it went downhill from there, with the game essentially out of sight by half time as they went in trailing by three goals.

Celtic went top of the table thanks to the win, and the whole occasion lead to jubilation for the Hoops and their supporters, but left a great deal of concern for Light Blues fans and manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Writing on his personal Twitter account soon after the final whistle, ex-Hoop Sutton said: “I’m hearing Rangers have put in a complaint to the SFA about the Celtic ball boys and want the game replayed…”

The Gers bench were unhappy with the ball boys during the match for wasting time, leading referee Bobby Madden to briefly intervene in during the second half.

To the victor the spoils

The ball boys complaint was no doubt infuriating as Rangers did at least improve after the break and would have hoped they could have played themselves back into the game.

But the sad truth is that the more level second period was as much down to the home side reducing their own intensity as it was the visitors playing better.

The new league-leaders were so superior in the opening exchanges, and then again just before half time, it is unfortunately all Gers fans can do to sit back and take the gloating from sources like Sutton.

There was some controversy surrounding the opening goal as Reo Hatate’s strike went in with Calvin Bassey lying in the penalty area after colliding with Joe Aribo.

Ultimately it probably wouldn’t have made a difference, but on a night when their opponents were playing at a superior level Rangers needed luck on their side, which it was not.

In other Rangers news, this ex-Celtic player has had his go at making fun of the Light Blues.
