BBC pundit Tom English insists Rangers need ‘Wonderful’ Aaron Ramsey more than ever

Tom English has singled out Aaron Ramsey as the one player to turn things around for Rangers after their Old Firm humiliation.

The Welshman was sat in the stands at Parkhead, as he wasn’t deemed ready to be involved in the 3-0 defeat.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will likely have him ready against Hearts, with English insisting that Ramsey needs to jump-start the Bears again.

Writing in his latest BBC column on Thursday (03 February), English singled out Ramsey as the one player to make all the difference.

“Of course, they have the wonderful Aaron Ramsey until the end of the season but they look tired,” he wrote.

“There wasn’t just a huge gap in quality on Wednesday. In terms of effervescence, the difference was glaring. Kyogo was a human spark plug for Celtic when he arrived.

“Van Bronckhorst could do with Ramsey jump-starting his new team in the same way.

“The Welshman’s quality is unquestioned, but he’d better be coming to Glasgow in the mood for a battle – because he’s in one.”

Rangers

Desperate.

We still can’t believe what we were watching last night, and Ramsey likely had a small shock himself.

The Welsh international will be desperate to get stuck in now, with the task twice as hard as it was when he arrived on deadline day.

Everything has changed now, with Rangers surrendering their lead to Celtic for the first time in months, and the chase beginning.

More defeats are not acceptable as we hunt the title and automatic Champions League qualification, and Ramsey will be key to that.

Ryan Jack simply has to come in now, and alongside him will be Joe Aribo and Ramsey, unless the Nigerian is pushed further forward for Glen Kamara to play.

Many changes will be considered, and we can’t wait to see Ramsey in a blue shirt on Sunday afternoon at Ibrox.
