Barisic in absolute shocker as Ryan Jack shines: Rangers player ratings v Celtic

Rangers dropped to second in the Scottish Premiership table after a woeful 3-0 defeat at the hands of Celtic at Parkhead on Wednesday night.

Reo Hatete scored in the fifth and 42nd minutes before Liel Abada rounded off a comprehensive win for Ange Postecoglou’s side before half-time.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst made a triple substitution at the break and it led to an improved performance by his side in the second half.

However, the damage was already done and here, Ibrox News has not held back in rating players out of 10 for their performances in the East End of Glasgow.

Allan McGregor – 4/10

McGregor could have done better for a couple of the goals but if it wasn’t for the 40-year-old goalkeeper, we could have been looking at a far, far worse scoreline at Parkhead.

James Tavernier – 1/10

How does Tavernier keep the captain’s armband after a performance like this? He was absolutely woeful and that was perhaps his worst-ever display for the Light Blues. Humiliating to watch.

Connor Goldson – 3/10

Goldson just doesn’t look like he wants to be at the club and it’s felt like that all season. He should’ve been sold, or at least replaced, in January based on his performances.

Calvin Bassey – 4/10

Bassey looked a lot better once he was shifted into the left-back role at half-time – but it was hardly a tough act for him to follow when he replaced Barisic.

Borna Barisic – 0/10

We’ve never given a player a zero before, but Barisic’s embarrassing, pathetic, gutless performance deserves it. He was an absolute shame to Rangers Football Club at Celtic Park. We’re still seething about him deciding to just sit down when Celtic’s third goal went in after he lost who he was marking. Rotten. Get out of our club.

Rangers

Glen Kamara – 4/10

A lot of Bears were totally stunned to see Kamara getting substituted off at half-time as he was the only player in that first-half who wasn’t an absolute embarrassment to the jersey. Odd by van Bronckhorst, who lost his mind in his first Old Firm.

Scott Arfield – 5/10

Arfield is always a player who’ll try his best and you could see that he was willing to run through walls for the jersey at Parkhead. It’s just a shame that not enough of his teammates have the same attitude. One of the very few with an average rating or above.

Joe Aribo – 3/10

Where was the Aribo that everyone’s been raving about at Parkhead? The Nigeria international can do far better than that. It’s all well and good playing well against the likes of Livingston and St Mirren. You’ve got to do it in the Old Firm too and Aribo didn’t do anything of note.

Amad Diallo – 2/10

We expect far better from the January signing than what we saw at Celtic Park. One of our best chances in the first half, prior to Diallo’s half-time substitution, was when the Man United loanee ran down the left and had the chance to play a ball into the box. It was woeful. He’s got to improve.

Ryan Kent – 1/10

Heartless, anonymous and pointless performance by Kent, who didn’t show an ounce of quality at Parkhead. If an English club is daft enough to make a bid for him in the summer, he’s got to go. We’re fed up of Kent showing up whenever he feels like it.

rangers

Kemar Roofe – 2/10

We forgot he was on the pitch for large spells of the game.

Substitutes:

Ryan Jack (on for Kamara 45′) – 8/10

Easily Rangers’ best player after he came off the bench at half-time. Jack controlled possession, sprayed out passes and almost scored a belter. He’s got to start from now on, based on that display.

Fashion Sakala (on for Diallo 45′) – 4/10

Leon Balogun (on for Barisic 45′) – 4/10

In other Rangers news, a player who rejected a deadline-day exit from his club is wanted by the Light Blues for the summer.
