Wild claim from Italian source says Rangers paying £280,000-a-week Aaron Ramsey wages
Rangers’ deal to sign Aaron Ramsey from Juventus has raised a lot of eyebrows in the footballing world, especially given the wages he was earning in Italy.
According to National World, Ramsey became the highest-earning British footballer when he joined the Bianconeri in 2019 on a free transfer from Arsenal.
But even more ridiculous than the massive £400,000 per week he is earning with the Italian giants is the claim from Calcio Mercato that the Gers are paying 70% of that during his loan spell.

That’s £280,000 per week which is lightyears above anything the current squad is earning and simply would not be allowed by the Scottish Premiership.
If there is any truth in the story, it might be that there is a 70/30% split between the clubs but it is far more likely that it’s the Italian side that are paying the vast majority of the wages.
Even then, £120,000 per week is still an awful lot to be paying one single player in the Scottish Premiership.
Ramsey is a major coup for the Light Blues and a player of his calibre will hopefully tempt more of the best in Europe to try their hand in Scotland and grow the league to new heights.

The 31-year-old won’t be available for Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the Old Firm derby tomorrow (2 February) but he will be sure to be ready to go as soon as possible to help boost the Gers to a second successive league title.
Having Ramsey and Aribo together in the midfield is something that no Scottish Premiership team would want to face and you have to think that if they both hit top form, no one will be able to stop them.
The Gers attackers won’t be complaining either having those two setting up their chances, Alfredo Morelos could have a field day when he returns from international duty.
In other Rangers news, a move for this club captain is still on despite missing the transfer deadline.
