Joe Ledley ‘gutted’ that ‘massive player’ Aaron Ramsey signed for Rangers
Joe Ledley was “gutted” to see his former international teammate Aaron Ramsey sign for Rangers on deadline day and tried to stop him making the move.
The former Celtic midfielder who played alongside the new Ibrox arrival in the Wales team for years knows what Ramsey can bring and didn’t want to see him doing it for his old rival.
Ledley cannot believe the ex-Arsenal man was available, and has backed him to make a big impact in Glasgow.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News on Tuesday (February 1, 03.30pm), Ledley said: “Yeah absolutely gutted. It’s a massive signing for Rangers. I tried my best to convince him not to go.
“The pair of them [Old Firm] are absolutely massive. He’ll see that on Wednesday.”
After assessing the move, the former Cardiff man talked up Ramsey’s quality, saying: “I’m surprised actually with Juventus letting him go. I think he still can do it at the club.
“It’s an opportunity for him to show the world what he can do. He’s a massive player.
“He’s one of the biggest signings of all time [for Rangers] and they’ll be excited to see him play.”
Major coup
Ledley will not have been alone on the green and white half of Glasgow in having a sinking feeling when it became clear that the Serie A man was signing for the Light Blues.
The 35-year-old made over 100 league appearances across four seasons at Celtic Park.
Since the new year momentum has been growing behind Celtic as they have cut the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership down to two points ahead of the Old Firm derby.

When the Hoops made their triple-signing from Japan it looked to have boosted fortunes for Ange Postecoglou’s side, particularly Reo Hetate.
But with their late moves in the transfer window Gers may have wrestled back the initiative, even if Ramsey won’t feature in the derby.
Amad Diallo was also an excellent signing from Manchester United and scored within five minutes of playing in a Light Blue shirt.
A win over their rivals tomorrow night and everything will suddenly look rosy again for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
In other Rangers news, there was on-air meltdown on Sportscene at the news of this transfer.
