Ally McCoist sets out what Aaron Ramsey must do to succeed at Rangers
Ally McCoist has offered Rangers signing Aaron Ramsey his best advice for how to be a success in Glasgow, following the Welshman’s arrival from Juventus.
The deadline day loan deal saw Ramsey become a Light Blue, and club favourite McCoist had some key pointers for him on talkSPORT Tuesday morning.
In a clip posted on the station’s Twitter account he said: “Right listen, it’s your new best pal Ally here, and I’ve got some advice for you Aaron, for you to fit in and make the most of beautiful Glasgow.”
After suggesting porridge with berries as a healthy Scotsman’s breakfast the pundit said: “What’s for dinner? We’ve got the best seafood in the world and I think Aaron, my Celtic brother, will like a bit of seafood.
“However, for a wee treat he can have… haggis, tatties and neeps,” fun-time Ally added after a Freudian slip of the tongue.
The ex-Ibrox player and manager went on: “What are you drinking? There’s only one drink up in Glasgow. Yes, absolutely [Darren] Benty, Irn Bru.
“How do you fit in with the locals Aaron? Very simple, you score goals and you play well, and you will be a hero mate.”
Expert advice
If there is one man who knows what it takes to be successful in a Rangers shirt it is the talkSPORT pundit.
Gers’ record goal scorer with 355 strikes, McCoist won the Scottish title 10 times as a player.
He took charge of the club as manager during the dark days in the lower leagues in the first half of the previous decade and remains a hero around Ibrox, so he knows what he is talking about.

At this point it seems unlikely that the Welsh midfielder could hope to come close to the heights that his predecessor reached in Glasgow, but even heading in that direction would classify this move as a success.
He was a prized asset when he arrived on a free transfer in Serie A following his Arsenal contract running out, earning a reported £400,000-a-week in wages at Juventus (BBC).
But, such is life at certain clubs around Europe these days, that status didn’t hold for long and he has become surplus to requirements in Turin thanks to multiple managerial changes.
A strong performer internationally throughout he has the chance now to help drive Rangers to another title, and start emulating McCoist.
In other Rangers news, this new signing had a two word message on Twitter after transfer was confirmed.
