Rangers table fresh bid to sign John Souttar, Hearts respond in dying hours of window – Sky Sports
Rangers have seen a new bid to sign defender John Souttar rejected by Hearts, according to Sky Sports.
In an update on their online Transfer Centre on deadline day [31 January, 06:25pm], Sky Sports report that Souttar, 25, will join the Gers no matter what in the summer with a pre-contract deal already agreed.
However, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson want Souttar in their squad for the rest of this season but have seen a “fresh” bid for the Scotland international rejected by the Tynecastle club.

Not happening
We’re not totally downbeat about not being able to sign Souttar this month but it is frustrating.
How good was our defence last season?
Allan McGregor seized up in most matches because he barely had to move because everyone in front of him played so well.
However, we have leaked goals this term and whether you think that’s down to a lack of protection from the midfield and worse performances by McGregor, it does mainly boil down to the quality of the back-four.

Leon Balogun and Connor Goldson know that they’re probably off this summer while Filip Helander has been injured all season.
Nikola Katic is out on loan in Croatia, Jack Simpson is on the fringes of the squad because he’s not good enough and Calvin Bassey should be challenging Borna Barisic for the left-back spot and not playing as a centre-back.
Souttar would have been a solid addition to this team to help us see out the bid for title number 56 and a spot in the Champions League group stages next season.
However, Hearts’ stubbornness looks set to pay off for them unless a big bid is made.
Maybe it is worth offering up that extra few hundred thousand if that’s what they want.
In other Rangers news, a player has been spotted getting off a private jet ahead of signing for the Light Blues tonight.
