‘Completed’ – Rangers seal signing of Mateusz Zukowski – Chris Jack

Rangers have completed the signing of Mateusz Zukowski on deadline day, making him their third signing of the window according to Chris Jack.

News broke overnight that the Bears were close to bringing the Poland Under-21 international to the club.

In a deal worth a reported £500,000, the Glasgow Times’ Jack is now reporting that a deal has been completed and is just missing the official announcement.

Zukowski joins the club following the arrivals of James Sands and Amad Diallo on loan from Manchester United.

He is expected to act as cover for first-choice right-back James Tavernier and will take over the squad place vacated by Nathan Patterson’s move to Everton earlier this month.

It’s a great start to deadline day for the Ibrox club, bringing in a fine young talent for a cheap fee to fill a hole in the squad.

After Patterson left the club, Giovanni van Bronckhorst had just Leon Balogun as cover for first-choice Tavernier.

Having made his debut at Lechia Gdansk back in 2017, Zukowski is an experienced youngster and will offer plenty to the team.

He is also capable of playing in midfield if necessary, although his preferred and natural position is at right-back.

Tavernier has got that position cemented as his own as he continues to deliver top-level performances on a weekly basis, but having someone available to cover for him or rotate into the team is a big bonus for the club.

Deal done, and hopefully, even more, to come on deadline day. They’ve still got that Patterson money to spend.
