Rangers want to sign Lechia Gdansk starlet Mateusz Zukowski
Rangers are hoping to complete a last gasp transfer for Poland Under-21 international Mateusz Zukowski from Ekstraklasa side Lechia Gdansk, according to Meczyki journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk.
The 20-year-old has been a common feature of the Gdansk lineup this season playing either as a right-back or in the centre of midfield.
Wlodarczyk and Meczyki are reporting that the deal is almost as good as done and that he will join the club before the January deadline closes tomorrow evening. It is understood the transfer is on the “home straight”.
Zukowski has already featured nearly 50 times for Gdansk in the Polish top division but he now wants a new challenge and Rangers looks set to be exactly that.
His contract expires at the club this coming summer and Gdansk are keen to receive some kind of transfer fee for their young starlet.
Patterson replacement
Rangers lost one right-back at the start of the window when Nathan Patterson was sold to Everton, now they’ve replaced him.
Very few Rangers fans will know much about the 20-year-old and understandably so given Gdansk aren’t one of the big clubs in Poland.

They are currently up in fifth in the Ekstraklasa this season but losing Zukowski could be highly detrimental to them.
The money that the Gers can offer though should be too good to turn down for both the club and the player which could see Giovanni van Bronckhorst get his man in almost record time.
He is unlikely to start many games with James Tavernier having cemented the right-back position as his own but he could always do a job in midfield if the situation allows.
He may make his debut, should he sign, in the Scottish Cup away at Annan Athletic should van Bronckhorst opt to rotate his team.
In other Rangers news, a cryptic tweet may have indicated another January deal at Ibrox.
