Fenerbahce ready to pay £7m to sign Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos

Fenerbahce are ready to pay as much as £7million for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, according to The Scotsman.

The newspaper reports on their website that Fenerbahce have until 8 February before their transfer window closes in Turkey and Morelos, 25, has been identified as a striker target.

The Scotsman have been told by “sources in Turkey” that Fenerbahce would pay £7million for the Colombia international, who’s currently away with his national team for World Cup qualifiers and will miss Wednesday night’s Old Firm showdown at Celtic.

Rangers

Turkish news outlet Sporx reported yesterday (29 January) that Fenerbahce and Rangers are in discussions over Morelos but it is now understood that the Gers are reluctant to sell anyone with Celtic now just two points behind them in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

No deal

With Celtic ramping up the pressure on Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side this weekend, there’s no way that anyone can be sold between now and the January transfer window closing on Monday.

While Fenerbahce do have an extra week to do business, it would be a disastrous decision to offload anyone without being able to bring anyone new in.

Morelos’ future needs to be sorted out in the summer, one way or another.

Either he needs to sign a new contract or he needs to be sold.

We hope it’s the former because the Colombian can really write his name into Ibrox history if he stays and continues to bang in the goals.

Morelos’ form at Ibrox deserves more than just one trophy while we hope that if we win the Premiership this season, it’ll convince him – and others – to sign new deals and stay to play in the Champions League group stages.

Otherwise, this season could Morelos’ last in Rangers colours.

In other Rangers news, Fabrizio Romano has sent a one-word message to this Ibrox ace after what happened on Saturday.
