Academy likes tweets saying Rangers are set to sign Romanian teen Kevin Ciubotaru
Rangers look as though they are set to sign Romania Under-18s left-back Kevin Ciubotaru from the Kinetic Academy.
Speculation started about Ciubotaru, 17, joining the Gers on Sunday when Telegraph Mike McGrath tweeted to say he’s signing a two-year deal at Ibrox before that post was later deleted.
Romanian news outlet Fanatik shows McGrath’s tweet on their website but it no longer appears on his profile. The tweet read the Gers are signing Ciubotaru “from the renowned Kinetic Academy on a two-year deal.”
Although that tweet has been deleted, it is interesting to note that the Kinetic Academy’s Twitter account has liked tweeted from numerous accounts that relay McGrath’s update, as well as any tweets about Ciubotaru joining the Light Blues.

All signs suggest it’s happening
It’s odd that McGrath deleted the tweet but it sure seems as though Rangers fans can expect the club to sign the Romania Under-18 international.
TelekomSport in Romania has previously reported that top Premier League teams have been eyeing up Ciubotaru, who’s previously been at Parma and Rapid Vienna before joining the Kinetic Academy.
Ibrox star Joe Aribo came through at the same academy while Josh Maja also did.
Kinetic’s liked tweets suggest the deal is on and while the Gers may not confirm the deal soon – as they don’t usually do it with youngster additions – fans may expect to see him appearing in the youth squad in the near future.
Ciubotaru turns 18 in a few days’ time so we may see the deal made official then because international red-tape may have been stopping a deal for now.
But we’re excited to see how this one goes because some big clubs have been linked with the Romanian sensation and the history that Kinetic has at producing top talent.
In other Rangers news, this European club is ready to pay £7million for a Gers star.
