Stan Collymore reacts as Celtic win and Rangers drop points v Ross County

Stan Collymore wants to see Celtic leapfrog Rangers in the race for the Scottish Premiership title on Wednesday night.

Celtic host the Gers at Parkhead with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side now just two points clear at the top of the table.

Rangers drew 3-3 at Ross County on Saturday before the 10 men of Celtic won it late on against Dundee United in Glasgow’s East End.

Straight after the Hoops game, Collymore took to his Twitter account to say: “When you’ve just been invited to Celtic v Rangers on Wednesday and the Hoops have a chance to go top…”

Huge match

Rangers are in a better position going into this game because we just have to avoid a defeat in order to retain a strong position in the league.

However, the fact that we’re going to be without Alfredo Morelos is a massive blow and the draw with Ross County suggests that the new manager bounce we got off van Bronckhorst is fading away.

Since the winter break ended, we’ve been treated to three very poor displays against Aberdeen, Livingston and Ross County.

Scott Arfield’s moment of magic was the only reason we won against Livi while a refereeing disasterclass played a role in the draw at Pittodrie.

However, away from that, large parts of the player squad have been playing well below expectations and something needs to change.

Amad Diallo’s arrival from Manchester United will hopefully spark some life into the side and his goalscoring debut in Dingwall today (Saturday) will surely help out.

But there are still too many players in this side who are either not good enough or who are good enough but not pulling their weight.

That cannot be the case in the Old Firm on Wednesday.

In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart feels a last-ditch signing is on the cards at Ibrox after what happened today.
