‘Out of control’ – Kris Boyd fumes live-on-air as red card decision goes against Rangers v Ross County

Kris Boyd was furious that Ross County weren’t given a red card in the first-half for an ‘out of control’ challenge against Rangers on Saturday.

The incident happened in the first half of the clash with Rangers already 1-0 up, when Ross County’s James Baldwin lunged in for a loose ball after a corner and caught Borna Barisic on the thigh.

The referee blew for a foul and gave the defender a yellow card for the tackle, but Sky Sports pundit Boyd couldn’t believe the decision and said that it was a red card ‘all day long’.

“Really bad, really bad,” Boyd said on air at half-time.

“It’s a red all day long. I think when you look at it he’s out of control. He’s not in control of what he’s doing there and it is a straight-legger. He’s very, very lucky.”

Lucky

Baldwin can count his lucky stars that he wasn’t sent off for the tackle, considering he makes contact with the thigh of Barisic.

It’s another referee decision in which Rangers will rightly feel hard done by, considering the refereeing performance against Aberdeen last week which saw Ryan Kent get sent off.

Had there been VAR in the Scottish Premiership then Rangers would have been 1-0 up and against ten men in awful conditions, which would have made for a much easier afternoon.

James McFadden didn’t dispute the claims of Boyd either, which tells you something.

In the end Barisic was able to continue and Rangers are left wondering what would have happened if the referee took the appropriate action at the time.
