Hearts sign Tony Sibbick to pave way for John Souttar exit to Rangers

Hearts have finalised the signing of Tony Sibbick which could see John Souttar leave for Rangers in January, according to the Scottish Sun.

The 22-year-old returned to Hearts just weeks after rivals Hibs also showed a keen interest in reuniting with him.

This could trigger a chain of events leading to Souttar moving to Govan this month after signing a pre-contract agreement for a summer move.

Time to make moves

The fact that Hearts have signed another defender means that they’re preparing for life without Souttar.

With the Scottish defender on his way out in the summer at latest, they will already be easing him out of the team.

Rather than letting him leave on a free, it would be advisable for them to cash in on his services.

Rangers and Giovanni van Bronckhorst are desperate to sign a defender this month and Hearts could take advantage of that situation.

Rangers

The fact that Gers are the biggest team in the land, they could even demand a high transfer fee for the 25-year-old’s services.

With deadline day approaching quickly, the club must look to snap him up quickly and have him on board for the rest of the season.

His signature would also give them a much-needed boost and hopefully help them kick on to another level.

Whether or not they end up tabling a bid in the next day or two remains to be seen, but everything points towards it happening.

In other Rangers news, the club could sign a ‘Combative’ centre mid whose father was is an Ibrox icon.
