Des McKeown thrilled to see Alex Lowry make Rangers debut
Alex Lowry’s agent Des McKeown has expressed his delight after seeing the teenager make his Rangers debut in the Scottish Cup last week.
The 18-year-old came off the bench 15 minutes into the game to replace Ianis Hagi in the fourth round of the competition against League Two’s Stirling Albion on Friday (21 January), and he found the back of the net 16 minutes later with a beautiful finish to open his account.
Lowry made his league debut during Wednesday’s game against Livingston, playing all 90 minutes, and his agent is pleased to see Giovanni van Bronckhorst show a lot of trust in the youngster.

He told Lanarkshire Live Sport: “We are delighted that, first of all, the manager has included him in training and then been brave enough to give him the opportunity against Stirling Albion.
“There were more experienced players on the bench who people may have thought would have been ahead of Alex in terms of getting on.
“We were really delighted he got the opportunity to get on. His performance was terrific given it was his first involvement.
“I was hoping he would get on, but I probably didn’t expect him to get as many minutes. I probably didn’t expect him to get chosen at that juncture. I probably didn’t expect that at 0-0, he would be introduced.
“I thought he might have been introduced with Rangers being 2-0 or 3-0 up. So it was a wee bit of a surprise but we are delighted all the same.”
Huge
Lowry has already blown a lot of people away with his performances in Lowland League B team, and Rangers fans who have followed his development in the league were not surprised with the quality he displayed on his debut.
As widely expected, the club could now reward him with a new contract after forcing his way into GvB’s first-team plans, and more appearances can be expected going forward this season.
With five goals in the Lowland League to his name and a senior goal already under his belt, Lowry has a huge future without any doubt, and all eyes will be on him henceforth.

Rangers have struggled to see their academy graduates break into their first team in recent seasons, and the feeling is that the latest kid on the block could be the next to do that.
There are still a lot of work ahead of him, but he has the natural talent and potential to become an Ibrox superstar, and a new deal is surely on the cards.
