Barry Ferguson believes Rangers could spend £3m before January 31st
Barry Ferguson expects Rangers to have up to £3million to spend before the end of the transfer window if the right opportunity is there.
The club have brought in decent money over the last couple of months and although it will not all be available to Giovanni van Bronckhorst, there should be some available if needed.
The Alloa Athletic manager wrote in his Daily Record column: “Look, Rangers are hardly awash with money. We all know how tight things are these days.

“But they did bring in more than £4m when Steven Gerrard took his coaching staff to Aston Villa.
“And they’ve secured a guaranteed fee of £11m for Patterson even before add-ons are taken into consideration.
“No one expects Gio to be given the whole lot to spend. The board explained to fans at the AGM that the club needs to become more sustainable. That model has now been put in place with Patterson’s sale.
“Yet it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect the manager to be given £2m or £3m to spend if he has identified a player he feels will make his team stronger.”
Big few days
The final few days of the window could be crucial to the chances of the Scottish Premiership returning to Ibrox for a second season running.
The manager has so far done well in keeping hold of his key players transfer-wise, but he did lose Ianis Hagi to injury in a major blow.
The capture of Amad Diallo from Manchester United should help fill the gap, and the emergence of youngster Alex Lowry has also been a revelation.

It has been mooted that it would take about 20% of Ferguson’s suggested budget to bring John Souttar over from Hearts before the end of the month.
He is set to arrive in the summer but the club are pushing to bring that forward.
Competition up front would help, and back up for James Tavernier might be necessary after the sale of Nathan Patterson.
If either could be addressed for a small fee it might prove the difference down the stretch.
In other Rangers news, the club is in contact with world leading manager over a move for one of his players.
