Fashion Sakala dazzled Kevin Thomson during this 2nd-half sequence for Rangers

Fashion Sakala wowed co-commentator Kevin Thomson with his touch and turn during the second half for Rangers against Livingston.

The Zambian forward delivered a man of the match performance that particularly shone after half time with his attacking ability, and one chance he worked for himself, controlling an awkward ball before spinning and getting off a shot that was saved by Max Stryjek, really impressed Thomson.

The 24-year-old also had a role in the eventual winning goal, scored by the returning Scott Arfield.

Speaking live on the RangersTV match broadcast, the former Rangers, Hibs and Dundee defender said: “It’s a sensational first touch, just the way he swivels. You’d back him as well. I actually don’t think it was that good of a ball from James Tavernier.

“It’s certainly a wonderful touch from Sakala.”

Excellent display

After arriving in the summer transfer window Sakala looks to really be growing into his role in the Light Blues team, and with the enforced absences of Ianis Hagi for the rest of the season, and Alfredo Morelos for the next few games, his influence will be crucial.

Getting a positive result on Wednesday night was vital for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men to get back on track after the unhappy draw against Aberdeen.

Not only did they drop points at Pittodrie, they lost Ryan Kent to suspension after his red card, and the fall-out from the performance of referee Kevin Clancy has run for most of the time since.

And with Celtic winning the night before the 1-1 draw, and also gaining all three points at Hearts this week, if the gap had narrowed any further with the Old Firm derby approaching fast things would have suddenly started looking uncomfortable at the top of the table.

So for Sakala to turn out a display of quality in horrible weather conditions to help secure a tight 1-0 win will have been exactly what his manager wanted to see.

In other Rangers news, this star earned high praise for what he did during the first half of the match.
