View: Rangers should be on alert as 'young Xavi' is left out again

Rangers have been alerted to the ongoing situation at PSG regarding Xavi Simons as the teenager was an unused substitute again at the weekend.

The Parisians went 4-0 up against Stade Reims with 15 minutes to go to kill off the game but Simons, who has long been linked with a move to Ibrox [AS], remained on the subs bench.

Mauricio Pochettino instead opted to bring on Ander Herrera which has further increased doubts over the 18-year-old’s future.

The Dutch midfielder sees his contract at the Parc Des Princes end at the conclusion of this season and looks likely to be leaving the French giants very soon.

It could be happening Gers fans, the longer Pochettino levels Simons out of the equation, the better the chances of him leaving this month.

The reviews he has received has been up there with some of the best and it seems strange that PSG would be happy to let a player as talented as him leave for free but that’s to Rangers’ gain.

PSG’s club website describes him as a ‘young Xavi’ and yet they are willing to let that go.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst would be very shrewd to make big moves this week to try and get Simons over the line and into the squad to ease his midfield concerns.

AS you could see in the 1-1 draw with Aberdeen, the Gers midfield is lacking a spark when Joe Aribo is absent and having Simons in to create from deep would be a huge benefit.

van Bronckhorst can’t be s reliant on Aribo if he wants to keep Celtic at bay in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

In other Rangers news, a senior duo are set to return with our predicted XI for the game against Livingston.
