Rangers goalkeeper Jon Mclaughlin close to penning new deal at Ibrox – report
Rangers are closing in on agreeing a new deal for goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin according to Daily Record.
The 34-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season but is due to pen an extension at Ibrox.
McLaughlin has only made ten appearances this season but could be next season’s first choice with Allan McGregor’s Ibrox future uncertain.

Safe hands
With McGregor’s future still very uncertain at the club, it is a safe bet to tie McLaughlin down to a new deal.
It is great that McGregor is still going for the Gers aged 39 and he will want to end his long-lived career on a high.
The veteran will hang up his boots when he is ready and if the Gers retain the title it would be the perfect time for him to leave on his terms rather than being forced out of the frame at ibrox.

McLaughlin is an experienced pro dubbed ‘unflappable‘ and would be able to do a job in between the sticks for the Bears despite not playing much in recent times.
It would allow the natural progression of 23-year-old Robby McCrorie who has two clean sheets in his only two for the Gers this season.
Whatever happens within the Bears net, they are in safe hands with the three keepers they have at the club and has calmed the nerves with the position for next season’s number one under question.
