Chris Sutton rages as Sky Sports detail Rangers talks with SFA within the last hour
Chris Sutton seems to be baffled by Rangers holding talks with the Scottish Football Association about the standards of refereeing.
According to Sky Sports News today [12:07pm, 21 January], the Gers have been in discussions with the SFA over concerns about Kevin Clancy’s performance in their 1-1 draw at Pittodrie on Sunday.
It is understood that the Scottish Premiership leaders raised eight issues with Clancy’s performance.

Ex-Celtic striker Sutton is clearly raging over the developments.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Sutton said: “Rangers and the SFA are having constructive talks about refereeing concerns during the Aberdeen game… you couldn’t make this up.”

Why is Sutton raging over this?
It’s a good thing that the SFA are willing to hold talks with Rangers about Clancy’s performance because otherwise, how are referees going to be held accountable for such high-profile errors?
We’re not sure there were as many as eight major issues in the 1-1 draw at Aberdeen but there were several baffling decisions by Clancy.
Firstly, Ryan Kent should not have been sent off. His two yellow cards were just about as soft as they get. When Andy Walker is saying the yellows for the Rangers star were soft, you know they were definitely soft.
Secondly, the ball was moving for Lewis Ferguson’s penalty. How could no one see that?
It moved towards the Aberdeen player and gave him an advantage in that he could apply extra power into his shot.
If the SFA listen to clubs – whether that be Rangers, Celtic, Dundee United, Cove Rangers or Kelty Hearts – then surely the situation will improve.
It doesn’t help when clowns like Sutton question what’s going on when it doesn’t suit the needs of his former club.
In other Rangers news, an in-form Celtic player has been ruled out of the upcoming Old Firm clash.
