Stuart Taylor warns Rangers youngster Kai Kennedy what he expects

Kai Kennedy will do well after his loan move from Rangers to Hamilton but first has to learn the Scottish Championship side’s “identity” says Stuart Taylor.

The 19-year-old made his debut against the side where he spent the first half of the season Dunfermline at the weekend.

And the Accies boss expects the young Scot to make an impact but has warned that he has to fit into his new side to properly do that.

Taylor said, as quoted by The Daily Record: “We are really happy. We’re trying to improve the squad that we’ve got and trying to get players who fit into how we play, trying to improve every aspect of us. I think Kai does that.

“I think he will do really, really well for us. He’s a great addition to the squad. I thought he worked really, really hard when he came on. It’s always hard to go back to a team you’ve been at.

“Kai came in late on Friday so he needs to find out what our identity is, what we do and how we go about it.”

Crucial stage

The optimism that his new manager currently holds is a positive sign for the Gers loanee but he will have to follow Taylor’s instructions for how to establish himself at New Douglas Park.

The winger is at risk of getting lost in the crowd at his parent club as he is already on his fourth loan move.

His move to Dunfermline during the first half of the season was cut short by the Light Blues after he was left out of John Hughes’ squad entirely, and the manager did not sound especially worried to see him go (Daily Record).

And his previous temporary transfers were disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, so his development has been interrupted somewhat by repeated upheaval.

It is probably a good sign that he was brought back to Ibrox and sent back out rather than left to his own devices this year, as a managerial change can sometimes lead to those not in the vicinity to be overlooked.

So if he can pick up the Hamilton identity quickly and force his way into the starting line up his prospects could look a lot brighter by the summer.
