Ally McCoist says Scott Brown and Kevin Clancy were ’embarrassing’ against Rangers
Scott Brown and Kevin Clancy were “embarrassing” in Rangers’s draw with Aberdeen, according to Ally McCoist, as he joked about the pair live on talkSPORT.
Ryan Kent was sent off by the referee at Pittodrie after the Dons captain made the most of minimal contact late in the 1-1 draw.
And the former Gers boss was still upset on Thursday morning (20 January, 07.00am) when he said live: “It was that obvious, the two of them were doing the Gay Gordons skipping off that park… the referee and Brownie.

“It was absolutely embarrassing, it really was.
“Ryan Kent got sent off for two bookings, and neither of them were bookings.”
Controversial evening
The ex-Ibrox striker clearly was being playful when he suggested the player and official were in it together following the controversial red card, but the pair both played there part in proceedings.
Clancy had only recently booked the Light Blues winger along with Jonny Hayes when the former Celtic captain reacted theatrically to a minor foul.
Perhaps caught up in the atmosphere created by the home crowd, the referee decided to produce the second yellow, with former top flight referee Charlie Richmond admitting he felt Clancy had “bought” what Brown was selling (Football Scotland).

The role of the ex-Hoops man in Rangers-related controversy was no surprise, but the performance of the referee was poor.
However, despite McCoist’s joke, both sides had reason for complaint as Aberdeen probably should have had a penalty in the first half of the match, as well as the one they were eventually awarded, for a coming together between Allan McGregor and Ryan Hedges.
The talkSPORT man admitted as much, so any accusations of bias would be unfounded, with the draw going down as an all round bad game for the Scottish referee.
