Andy Walker stunned by Ryan Kent in 2nd-half sequence at Aberdeen

Ryan Kent wowed Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker with his control for Rangers during a move in the second half at Aberdeen on Tuesday night.

Taking the ball down after a long pass over the top, the Gers winger showed fantastic touch and had the former Celtic man full of praise, calling it “absolutely magnificent”.

It proved to be the high point for Kent as he was later sent off for a second booking in a foul on Scott Brown.

Speaking live on the Sky Sports Main Event broadcast, the co-commentator said: “His first touch here, look at the quality of it. Outside of the right foot and it’s within a yard of him to control.”

Hero to zero

The impressive touch shown by the former-Liverpool youth player came mid-way through a half where the league-leaders were looking to consolidate a 1-0 lead.

Although the subsequent ball played into the box was not of the same quality and did not find a teammate, it felt like Gers were relatively comfortable.

However, things took a negative turn for both the club and then the player.

First, the Dons pulled level from the penalty spot after a header struck Alfredo Morelos on the arm, Lewis Ferguson sending Allan McGregor the wrong way.

Then Kent received a pair of relatively soft bookings to be sent off and make the task of finding a winner significantly harder.

The second booking will have been especially painful for Rangers fans as it was former Celtic captain Scott Brown’s theatrical reaction to slight contact that lead to the card.

With Ibrox fans used to seeing their former rival seeking out controversy it will have been extremely frustrating to see him laughing and waving their man off the pitch, especially as Giovanni van Bronckhorst dropped his first league points and Brown’s former side closed the gap at the top.

In other Rangers news, this player was slammed for his act during the Aberdeen clash.
