Ally McCoist blasts Rangers for performance in Aberdeen draw

Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Aberdeen at Pittodrie Stadium on Tuesday night (18 January), and Ally McCoist was far from impressed with what he saw.

It was the Light Blues’ first performance since Premiership action resumed after the winter break, and their former boss took to talkSPORT this morning to express his disappointment with their performance.

Ianis Hagi put Rangers ahead 20 minutes into the game before Lewis Ferguson drew the hosts level in the 73rd minute, and the visitors were further dealt a blow after Ryan Kent was sent off with seven minutes left on the clock.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast this morning (19 January), McCoist said: “I was so disappointed in both my teams last night, they were rotten, they were rotten man, Chelsea, and Rangers were worse.

“I don’t want to talk about either of them, move on, I’ve annoyed myself.”

Absolutely

It was a scrappy opening 15 minutes from Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, and while they opened the scoring, nothing changed for the majority of the game.

Rangers did not create anywhere near enough in front of goal and were only hanging on in a bid to see out the game and win 1-0.

It was a flat and lethargic performance from the Bears and they cannot have any complaints after seeing their lead at the top of the Premiership table cut to just four points.

Many feared the winter break could have an effect on a side that was on a seven-game winning streak heading into it, and that is exactly what has happened.

Rangers face Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup this weekend before league games against Livingston and Ross County.

They travel to Parkhead to battle Celtic on February 2, and the next three league games could have a huge say on their campaign.
