Rangers predicted XI v Aberdeen: James Sands to make debut

Rangers January signing James Sands is in contention to make his debut against Aberdeen in the SPFL on Tuesday night.

The American has arrived on loan and will be looking to impress manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

With no Scott Arfield and Steven Davis due to injury and Joe Aribo out on international duty, the 21-year-old could find himself starting his first ever game for the Gers.

Also joining him in midfield would be John Lundstram, with Ianis Hagi given the freedom to play in a wide right position.

While the Romanian tends to play more centrally, he is capable of wreaking havoc from the flanks as well.

We expect the back five to remain unchanged from the side that beat St Mirren 2-0 on boxing day.

Despite Connor Goldson’s uncertain future, he is expected to retain his place in the starting eleven.

John Souttar agreed to join Rangers in the summer but the club want to sign him imminently.

While Hearts are playing hardball and there remain chances of him joining in January, he will not be available for the game on Tuesday even if his signing is completed on Monday.

Kemar Roofe is also unavailable for this one and even if he was, there’s no chance GvB would start him over Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.

Fashion Sakala is expected to be on the bench and come off the bench in the second half if the game needs any impacting.

There will certainly be some rustiness to shake off and the Dutchman will need to ensure that his players are fit enough after a three-week break.

In other Rangers news, a BT Sport pundit has claimed that the Gers will seal a January deal for an ‘Incredible’ int’l ace
