Borna Barisic reckons Rangers will not hesitate to sell him for £30million

Rangers left-back Borna Barisic has suggested that the club will not turn down a chance to sell him for £30million should it be tabled.

The Croatian international, 29, has two-and-a-half years left on his current contract at Ibrox, and he has been linked with Watford, with some other clubs keen on him too.

The Scottish Premiership giants will not be willing to lose Barisic right now, and he appears open to remaining with them beyond the January transfer window, but he reckons that could become impossible were they to receive a bid that matched their valuation for him.

He said during a press conference today (via Sky Sports): “You never know in football. What if someone came and said ‘here’s £30m for Borna’? I will not be here, right?

“The only thing that matters is I am fully professional like always. I am fully focused on Rangers and on our next game which is Aberdeen. All the answers, you will have at the start of February.

“The situation is that I am focused on Rangers, like I always said when it’s talking about transfers.

“I’m not reading newspapers and things like that, but I heard a lot of wrong information. Not all of them, but a lot of wrong information.

“I said before that I don’t want to go into details. I know what this badge is, so you need always to be 100 percent on training, on the pitch. Without that, it’s impossible to play here. So I’m really focused on Rangers, that is the only thing that matters now.

“All the answers, one more time, will be here at the start of February.”

True

The Light Blues do not see themselves as a selling club, but it is difficult to see them turning down £30million for any of their players.

However, whether any club anywhere will pay that amount for a 29-year-old plying his trade in the Premiership remains to be seen.

Barisic is currently valued at around £5million by transfermarkt, but the club will want around double or triple of that for his signature.

Nevertheless, it will take a juicy bid from suitors to tempt the Bears into parting ways with him right now.

Rangers

They are not under any form of pressure to sell and are comfortably in a commanding position given his contract situation.

The summer transfer window will be a very interesting one as a lot of their players will be courted by Premier League clubs, though, and while qualifying for the Champions League group stages will give them a huge financial boost, holding on to some of their key players could prove difficult should they express the willingness to move on.
